ABOUT
The Books That Made Shakespeare features items selected from the University of Iowa Special Collections Library, and was curated by Adam G. Hooks. It is an extension and expansion of an exhibition displayed in the Main Library gallery during Shakespeare at Iowa in 2016, as part of the global centennial celebration of Shakespeare’s life and works four hundred years after his death. This digital exhibition makes these materials freely available and accessible to everyone.
Shakespeare at Iowa consisted of a series of events held in conjunction with the Folger Shakespeare Library’s traveling exhibition First Folio! The Book That Gave us Shakespeare. You can access the original events page here.
This digital exhibition was made possible in part by the Folger Institute’s grant program Teaching Shakespeare To Undergraduates which was funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
